A digital wallet (also known as an e-wallet) allows users to make electronic commerce transactions quickly and securely.

A digital wallet functions much like a physical wallet. The digital wallet was first conceived as a method of storing various forms of electronic money (e-cash), but with little popularity of such e-cash services, the digital wallet has evolved into a service that provides internet users with a convenient way to store and use online shopping information.

Technology

A digital wallet has both a software and information component. The software provides security and encryption for the personal information and for the actual transaction. Typically, digital wallets are stored on the client side and are easily self-maintained and fully compatible with most e-commerce Web sites. A server-side digital wallet, also known as a thin wallet, is one that an organization creates for and about you and maintains on its servers. Server-side digital wallets are gaining popularity among major retailers due to the security, efficiency, and added utility it provides to the end-user, which increases their enjoyment of their overall purchase.

The information component is basically a database of user-inputted information. This information consists of your shipping address, billing address, payment methods (including credit card numbers, expiry dates, and security numbers), and other information.

How much should I charge per picture for wedding photos?
Q. I'm going to be the photographer in a wedding coming up, and need ideas on how much to charge for each picture. I have not decided whether or not to use film or digital [will probably end up doing digital]. So I'm not really sure as to how much to charge people for the pictures. I know that if I end up doing digital, I will need to gain back the amount it will cost me to borrow/rent a nice digital camera, along with the cost of the prints, however at the moment, I have not looked into it. So I'm wondering what the price ranges should be. I'm thinking of offering 8X10's - wallet sizes and then going anywhere from maybe $15-$80 depending on sizes, and how much they're going to cost. Does that seem like a reasonable price range or should I… [cont.]

A. First of all, shoot more than needed so you can edit out what does not measure up. Charge high for the brides portrait that you shoot in advance of the wedding. Afterwards, put together package deals and set a flat price for reprints. Wedding photographers fees and pricing varies in different areas of the country. Read up on wedding photography, this is a one time shoot, talk to other photographers. Make sure you want to do this in digital, shooting in film is still the standard in wedding photography.

What are my options in the way of cheaply priced digital camcorders?
Q. I'm looking for a basic digital camcorder, around or under $100. I don't need exceptional quality images, but I would like to be able to make out what I'm filming, for sure! I'm hoping for a fair amount of memory (minimum of a few minutes, preferably more), and some decent software. What I'm planning to film are things like my brother playing, my cat, blowing out candles, that sort of thing. Knowing my hyper brother, he will probably be moving fairly fast! What are my options? What do you recommend? I don't expect any amazing camcorder for this price, but something to start with that won't empty my wallet =) Thank you!

Can I get photo prints with font added?
Q. You know how pharmacies print your digital pics for you, right? Well, I was hoping to make "business cards" by placing my contact info on my pics; and ordering wallet size matte prints of them. As long as they are still "JPEG" format they'll print, right? Thanx a bunch!

A. You are absolutely correct. You might want to get a sample print of something at wallet size (or if they have the exact dimensions written somewhere, that would even be easier) and make sure that you make your "business cards" file that exact size and at a high enough resolution that they will look good. And be sure to just print a test before you print any quantities. Great idea, by the way!
