help writing a letter to police to get out of fine for not carrying a drivers licence?
Q. I rushed out of the house without my wallet to take wife to optometrist to have glasses repaired before they closed for the day, as she could not use them without causing her pain. made it in time but on the way home pulled over for a breath test, could not show drivers licence, officer fined me but said I could write a letter & probably get out of fine, as I have a 10year clean driving record.

A. I don't think a letter to the police will help you. You need to addess it to the judge. Just be honest and make your plea to the judge. If you're lucky you'll get one that is sympathetic.. or at the least, reduce the fine.

Asked by koolpiez - Sat Jun 27 19:46:37 2009 - United States - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Depends on where you buy it and where you are a resident. If you buy it in New Hampshire there is no sales tax at all. But if you drive it back to, say, Vermont, then you would owe 8 percent "use" tax. That would make it $64.61 total, after you pay the tax.

How much is the fine if I left my driving license and insurance proof in home ?
Q. I got pull over (In California) and bad luck I had left my wallet and bag in home. The cop issued a ticket for not having DL and insurance proof with me.Does anyone know if by showing them to court the citation can be canceled ? and if not how much is the fine ?
Asked by dandi_kain - Fri Dec 24 18:46:43 2010 - Law Enforcement & Police - 4 Answers - Comments

A. If you take a license and proof of insurance (both valid on the date in question) to court and show them to the clerk, both charges will be dismissed for an administrative fee. Under current statutes, that fee is supposed to be $25, so it should not cost more than $50.

I need to know how to fine my SSN fasttt 10 points to best answer!!!?
Q. I'm 16, almost 17 years old. I want to get a job as a cashier at Bloom and the application is asking for my Social Security Number. Two days ago my dad lost his wallet with my SSN in it. No one in my family knows my SSN by heart either. Where can I go fast to find it?
Asked by Nik.Marie - Sun Jul 18 18:58:47 2010 - Personal Finance - 5 Answers - Comments

A. It will be on your parents tax returns... usually they have a copy of that in the house. Ask Dad to find last years tax return where he claimed you as a dependent... the tax return has your SSN on it. You need the actual card to get a job... they (your employer) has to have a copy of the real thing before you can start working legally. Go to the nearest Social Security Office with a birth certificate and money and order your new card. (Same number as before).

What do police officers get to take home with them?
Q. I'm just curious, things such as Cop cars? Badge? Gun? Uniform? Whatever is on their belt. Wallets?(are cop wallets normal wallets with a badge on it or are they special wallets just for the cops). I live in Ontario. Canada, but it doesn't matter, anywhere is fine. Thanks in advance. I know that the Canine unit gets to take home the dog with them...so that's pretty cool.

A. A lot depends on the agency you work for. Some large agencies keep locker rooms available for the officer, where he changes out of civilian clothing and puts on the uniform and equipment. The large majority of agencies issue uniforms to the officer or simply give him the money to buy them (uniform allowance). Handguns are either issued by the agency or the officer can supply his own - depending on what the policy is. That is same with most equipment carried or used by the officer. Devices like a Taser and Pepper Spray are always issued by the agency because of liability and training concerns. Whether the department issues the equipment or the officer buys it, it usually all goes home with the officer. During my years in Law Enforcement,… [cont.]

This Kobe thing has got me wondering, where does the $100,000 fine go to?
Q. I'm not defending Kobe Bryant for his slur, but I'm just curious, when athletes get fined, where does that money go to? I think that money along with the other fines should go towards a Christmas bonus for the people who work at the arena's, such as popcorn vendors. Somehow, I think that this is far from the case. It probably all goes into the wallets of those who don't even need it, like the owners. It's gotta go somewhere, it doesn't just vanish into thin air. Does anyone know how these things work out? Just curious.

If you got an overdue book and you lost your library card?
Q. Its been overdue bout a few months over a year...and I lost my wallet, with my library card in it. It happened a long time ago and I remembered about it just recently. If i just leave it be will it ever come back to haunt me? What'll be the consequences? What if I get a new card and just buy the book? Do I still have to pay the overdue fine? What's the best choice of action? Haha, sorry bout all the questions. x P My bad, but I forgot to mention I lost the book. >.>
Asked by Tou_Chan - Thu Apr 10 01:13:07 2008 - Books & Authors - 5 Answers - Comments

A. Each library has a different way of dealing with their overdues etc. Firstly, return the book. Then approach the library about getting a new card, (in person would be good but over the telephone can work too) explain the situation and see if they can help you. You'll never really know until you go in and ask ... it's a question that often gets asked so staff will be able to answer it. Oh yeh, smile. It always helps.

The ticket inspector who gave me the fine told me that i might not get a fine if i can find my ticket! Guess what? Still cant find it! What should i do?! I'm not paying a fine, when i did the right thing... I can get my Sycologist too write me a letter if need be, do you think that will help?
Asked by Mark B - Tue Aug 5 09:48:27 2008 - Rail - 6 Answers - Comments

A. You want to have a psychologist write a note saying that you wouldn't steal a ride? I highly doubt that would have any influence whatsoever. And, you didn't do the right thing, since the right thing is to buy a ticket and hold on to it until the conductor comes by. If the ticket isn't in your pockets or your carryons, there is a good chance it left your person before you even got on the train. In which case, you boarded a train without a ticket, and broke a rule. Pay the fine, and it'll be a lesson learned for the next time you buy a train ticket.

What is the fine for unknowingly throwing your voice?
Q. I am an uncontrollable ventriloquist, I just can't help myself. So the police pulled me over, and I got my wallet out, and then I don't know, it's like i'm psychotic and can't control myself. And I had the office looking all over and under, and he looked in my trunk and over the guardrail. And then I realized it was all caught on tape and now I have a hearing scheduled. And I'm afraid if I bring my lawyer that I will start throwing my voice in court. Should I plead temporary insanity?

Is our POTUS insane concerning health care?
Q. He is talking about overhauling health care. That is fine, but can you think of one thing that our government has overhauled and it saved you money and was a success? I can't think of one thing. Your health care is your responsibility. It isn't the governments and it isn't your employer's responsibility. Grab your wallets. If they attempt to overhaul health care here in the USA we will all pay more for it and the quality and innovations will be gone. Thanks but no thanks Mr. Pres. I would prefer you pay for what you are already doing before you tackle health care. Thanks for adding 12% to our national debt in one year. Please go back to Chicago and organize the south side or crawl back under a rock.

Is boycotting work and school really in the best interests of illegal immigrants?
Q. Boycotting school is really not in the best interest of kids who need their education. But it will be a dam fine day for americans to look for a job!!! We really don't need them as much as they need us. Do you think they came here to give us charity? Or to take what we have because they need it? And does need give them the right? Tell me that when I steal your wallet! Anti facsism--Yep I guess we stole this whole dam country from mexico. You get your facts straight. If they want some parts of this country back then let them ask for that. Not ruin the whole country. For a few of you others-- Pull out the race card because that's all you have. No one is talking about race here except for people who want what isn't theirs, and misinformed… [cont.]
