Would you dilemma on mine, for I'd appreciate it if you'd comment?
Q. I have been obsessionally working on a costume towards a masquerade ball I'll be attending on Oct. 28th. The dress is a painted, embroidered, beaded dress, with elaborate headdress - made to look alike a mermaid's in mourning. I work on it now, as many as 18 hours a day to finish attaching its' train, alike a mermaid's fin-tail, which is the last thing which remains unfinished, Also the lengthening of the widow's reeds, an elaborate as well, veil which now calls for extra lengthening, since it must trail further than the fin-tail hem at my feet. Here is my dilemma, I made the dress for other purposes having begun it near a year ago, but something of sadness interfered and it changed into a garb to wear signifying Grief. A. Grecia, the reason you wanted to destroy the dress in part was for closure(by ceremonial means of destroying the dress). My advice is to take some unused fabric from the dress or make a crude doll like cutout of the dress to destroy. Then you can use the material you wanted to use to materially close that part of your life as you originally intended. Yet you can give away the gown as a process of transformation or rebirth. Kind of like the phoenix bursting into flames to be reborn (you destroy the characture of the dress and give the dress become more than itself or more than it originally was by it's gift as a bedazzling art form which has come to life for you as taking on it's own life upon creation)
